Long An is a province located in the southern key economic region and is the gateway connecting the Southeast with the Mekong Delta region, especially sharing the border with Ho Chi Minh City, by a system of national highways: 1,50, 62, N1, N2 (Ho Chi Minh Road). With its strategic location, the gateway connecting the East – Southwest, Long An is identified as a dynamic economic region that plays a particularly important role in Vietnam's economic development strategy..

I. GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

  • Long An province is located in the southern key economic region, with a natural area of 4,493.8 km2

+ The east and northeast borders of Hochiminh and Tay Ninh Province

+ The west and northwest borders of Dong Thap province and Prey Veng province, Cambodia

+ The south borders of Tieng Giang Province

+ The northern borders of Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia.

II. POPULATION

  • As of November 9, 2021, the population of Long An province reached 1,763,754 people.
  • In 2021, Long An is the 13th largest administrative unit of Vietnam in terms of population.
  • The population density was 392 people/km².
  • The urbanization rate as of 2021 reached 24%.
  • The proportion of people of working age was 1025.5 people, of which males accounted for 565.2 people and women accounted for 460.3 people.

IV. ECONOMIC

  • In 2021, the Economic Growth Rate (GRDP) of Long An province reached 6.06% (4.34% higher than the same period), of which, all 3 regions achieved higher growth over the same period.
  • The growth rate ranks 3/13 in the Mekong Delta region and 4/8th in the southern key economic region.
  • In 2021, Ranked 2nd in the list of provinces attracting FDI with a total investment value of up to 3.84 billion USD, accounting for 12.3% of total investment capital.
  • Up to now, Long An has attracted 2,113 projects, and granted investment certificates with registered capital of VND 251,614 billion; 1,124 FDI projects, registered capital of more than USD 9.3 billion.
  • In 2021, Long An is the 13th largest administrative unit of Vietnam in terms of population, in the list of administrative units of Vietnam according to GRDP, ranked 12th in the GRDP, and ranked 14th in GRDP per capita.
  • With 1,763,754 people GRDP reached VND 138,198 billion, GRDP per capita reached nearly VND 81 million, and GRDP growth rate reached 9.41%
