Industrial park developers are "thirsty" of accommodation for workers

Jul 13, 2021

The government has a policy to encourage industrial park infrastructure investors to invest in building housing for workers in the IZ.

However, with the existing industrial zones, the planning of workers' housing is relatively difficult because it involves the arrangement of land fund, adjustment of planning, the industrial park takes a long time to carry out this procedure.

After a long time of proposing this year, a worker housing project will be implemented in VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park. Currently, Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park is also looking forward to the next changes in the city's policies related to worker housing.

Also facing similar barriers, Ms. Truong Tu Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai An Joint Stock Company, Investor of Dai An Industrial Park, said that the previous regulations required the minimum area for an industrial park to be 100 hectares, but Decree 82 recently introduced a minimum regulation of only 75ha/1 IP.

With 100 hectares, investors must invest at least 1,000 billion (about 400 billion in land compensation, at least 600 billion in investment, even if the actual investment is at least 1,400 billion). Therefore, the regulation of 75ha/IZ is not appropriate. An industrial park needs to have all the criteria in terms of life, culture and connection for workers.
